Chiron in Every Sign
Chiron (⚷) is the wounded healer — the minor planet whose position in your natal chart describes a core wound you were born with, and the path of healing that transforms that wound into your most distinctive gift. The wound never fully disappears. It becomes the foundation of the healer.
Chiron's highly elliptical orbit means it spends anywhere from 2 to 9 years in a single sign — which is why the sign describes a generational wound shared by everyone born during that window. Your Chiron's house placement shows where in your specific life the wound and healing concentrate.
What is Chiron in astrology?
Discovered in 1977, Chiron is a small solar system body orbiting between Saturn and Uranus. In myth, Chiron was a centaur — half human, half horse — who was a healer and teacher to heroes. He was accidentally wounded by a poisoned arrow and, being immortal, could not die from the wound. Instead, he learned to live with it and became the wisest healer of antiquity precisely because of the wound he carried.
Astrologically, Chiron describes a wound that cannot be permanently fixed — but that can be transformed. The sign shows the nature of the wound (the domain of life where the deepest sensitivity lives). The house shows where it expresses in your specific life. Aspects to other planets show how the wound is activated and how it connects to your broader chart story.

The area of deep sensitivity and recurring pain that the person was born into.
The healing path

Chiron takes approximately 49–51 years to complete its orbit. When it returns to the position it occupied at your birth — usually in your late 40s to early 50s — you experience your Chiron Return. This is one of the most significant astrological events in a human life: the wound that has shaped so much of your experience is now available for its deepest healing.
The Chiron Return is not always comfortable. It often surfaces the wound dramatically before it heals it. People commonly experience major life changes, health events, relationship shifts, or career pivots around this time — not as punishment, but as the wound requesting its final, deepest attention. Those who engage it consciously often report the years following the Chiron Return as the most authentic and purposeful of their lives.
