Synastry Aspects

Synastry compares two natal charts to reveal the energetic connections between two people. Each aspect — conjunction, trine, square, opposition — creates a specific dynamic. These guides cover the 12 most-searched inter-chart aspects, from the warmth of Moon conjunct Venus to the intensity of Pluto conjunct Moon.

What is synastry?

Synastry is the comparison of two natal charts. When Planet A in your chart forms an aspect to Planet B in another person's chart, it creates a specific energetic connection between you. A conjunction (0°) brings two planetary energies into direct contact — maximum intensity. A trine (120°) creates harmonious flow. A square (90°) produces productive friction. An opposition (180°) creates polarity and fascination.

These inter-chart aspects don't determine your relationship's fate — they describe its energetic architecture. Understanding them gives you language for what you already feel.

One aspect is not the chart

A single planetary aspect tells you about one dimension of your connection. A full synastry reading overlays every planet and point across both charts — typically 20+ aspects.

The composite chart

The composite chart is a third chart calculated by taking the midpoints of each person's planets — it represents the relationship itself as an independent entity.

Transits on the relationship

Current planetary transits aspect both your natal chart and your composite chart, creating windows of ease, challenge, or transformation in your relationship's timeline.
